How to Apply
For the MUPP program: The number of students admitted is limited. Admissions are selective and competitive. Submit your application early in order to receive fullest consideration. Admission to fall the early deadline to be considered for merit-based assistantships and scholarships awarded by the department is January 15. Deadline for international applicants is February 15, and final deadline for fall admissions is March 15. Admission for Spring semester deadline is July 15 for international applicants and November 1 for domestic applicants. UPP does not grant admission for summer semester.
For the PhD program: The number of students admitted is limited. Admissions are selective and competitive. Submit your application early in order to receive fullest consideration. Students are admitted for fall semester only; deadline is December 15.
If applying for merit-based financial assistance from the department, you are required to submit the Application for Graduate Appointment.
The application is online and students must submit all credentials electronically. Please check this page for all details pertaining to application requirements, submitting the online application and supplemental credentials.
Important note about uploading credentials
After filing the online application, there will be a 3-5 day delay before supplemental credentials can be uploaded. If the online application is filed by the deadline date, your application will be considered. Please submit all other credentials as soon as possible.

Checking Application Status
Checking application status: Application materials submitted electronically and received before the deadline will not be acknowledged; the date and time of submission is contained in the email and it will be noted in your application file that the deadline was met. Institution codes for standardized tests:
There is no department code, use the following institution codes.
GRE – 1851 GMAT – 1929 TOEFL – 1851.
UIC Curriculum codes: Please carefully check that you have used the correct UIC curriculum code on your application. Using a wrong code may delay review of application and acceptance into UIC. Students admitted as non-degree seeking will not be eligible for any financial assistance, including loan programs.
