CUPPA Masters Degrees PLUS UIC Law

The sun rises during the second day of spring on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law.

UIC's College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs partners with the UIC School of Law to present three joint program options which lead to the

• Juris Doctor (JD) combined with the:

• Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree, or

• Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree, or

• Master of Urban Planning (MUPP) degree.

Full-time students may complete the joint degree program in four years.

JD/MPA

Students must complete the requirements for both the JD (90 hours) and the MPA (54  hours), with 28 hours being shared between the two degrees, for a total of at least 116 hours.

JD/MPP

Students must complete the requirements for both the JD (90 hours) and the MPP (54  hours), with 28 hours being shared between the two degrees, for a total of at least 116 hours.

JD/MUPP

Students must complete the requirements for both the JD (90 hours) and the MUPP (60 hours), with 28 hours being shared between the two degrees, for a total of at least 122 hours.

Students must apply to the JD program and the MPA, MPP, or MUPP program and be admitted to each separately in order to be considered for the joint degree program.

The policies of each program with respect to admission requirements, degree requirements, and other academic requirements are applicable. To be considered for admission to the joint program, students must take the LSAT or GRE, have earned a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, and satisfy other application requirements for each college.
