The Emerging Leader Award in Honor of Anna Bachman

The CUPPA Alumni Association's Emerging Leader Award in honor of Anna Bachman, was establish in 2024 for an individual who is in the first 10 years of their urban planning, public policy, or public administration career, has made a significant contribution in their career, and has shown outstanding service and leadership.

Anna Bachman was a MUPP student in 2014 when she passed away in a hiking accident. During her time as a student, she made a tremendous contribution to the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs. She was a research assistant at the Voorhees Center for Neighborhood and Community Improvement and was one of two symposium coordinators for the 2014 Urban Innovation Symposium. Anna also participated in the planning committee for the 40th anniversary celebration of the Department of Urban Planning and Policy.

Anna was committed to housing justice and was an intern in community investment at Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago.

The CUPPA community is grateful to Anna’s family for supporting a student scholarships and an annual intern for housing justice in Chicago, carrying forward the work that Anna did during her life.
