Prof Emeritus Winkle to Serve on COVID-19 Monument Commission

Curt Winkle

Urban Planning and Policy Professor Emeritus Curt Winkle will serve on the COVID-19 Monument Commission, an organization formed to create a monument to memorialize, mourn, and reflect on the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 Monument Committee in collaboration with the Hektoen Institute of Medicine and the Illinois Medical District has selected a location in the city of Chicago, Illinois, USA for the physical monument structure. It will be accessible to all through virtual engagement.

Winkle's participation on the commission is an extension of his work from Spring of 2023 teaching Urban Planning and Policy's 505/506 course, Making Plans. The course focused on the Illinois Medical District including the triangle defined by Damen, Ogden and Polk Avenues.
