MUPP Student Merav Argov Receives a Grant from the Clarence S. Stein Institute

Merav Argov

Congratulations to Merav for being awarded $20,000 by the Clarence S. Stein Institute for Urban and Landscape Studies, located at Cornell University, Department of City and Regional Planning. Merav submitted a research proposal entitled “Lathrop—The Human Scale as a Space Holder for Equitable Renewal,” developed with support from Dr. Sanjeev Vidyarthi and building on her master's project conducted under mentorship of Prof. Kheir Al-Kodmany. The funding allows for 2 years of research on this project which concentrates on the influence of human scale art and culture interventions inspired by Stein's superblock built environment design on Chicago's Lathrop Homes public housing as a leveraging platform for a viable equitable growth . The project's goal is to bring awareness about the changes and stresses the community has experienced and to impact the community's renewal while aiming to address the discrepancies between socio-economically diverse tenants at Lathrop Homes.
