Understanding Implicit Bias and Exploring Bias Mitigation Strategies”. This workshop is a part of our broader campus efforts for Advancing Racial Equity and is a collaborative effort between the Office of Diversity and the Office of the Dean of Students. In
this highly interactive workshop, we will provide an introduction to implicit bias, explore research evidence on the impact of bias across disciplines, and engage with practical strategies we can use to mitigate the negative effects of bias in our everyday lives. You will leave this workshop with a set of goals designed to encourage you to practice bias mitigation strategies.
We presently have three sessions scheduled for the fall term (Oct. 25 at 3pm, Nov 11 at 1pm, Nov 17 at 1pm) and we will offer additional dates in the spring. You can register here. The virtual workshop will be two-hours in length and students, faculty and staff are all welcome. CART live captioning will be provided. Please feel free to reach out to joslin@uic.edu with any additional accommodation requests.
