The Building

Yes. Masked.

CUPPA Hall and AEH buildings are fully open as of Mon., Aug. 23 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Masks are mandatory indoors on campus at this time.

The CUPPA Front Desk in the Dean’s Office on the first floor is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Yes.  EVERYONE is required to wear their own masks in common spaces of the building, including hallways, restrooms, foyers, conference rooms. Everyone is required to be masked entering and exiting the building, and anytime outside of their individual office space. Should someone enter your individual office space, both you and the visitor are required to be masked. A limited supply of disposable masks will be available in Student Center East should someone forget.

No. Social distancing currently is not required, but, as the public health situation evolves, some distancing may become necessary. Throughout the building and classrooms, there are “Sit Here” decals that are six feet apart. Some rooms also list COVID capacity restrictions. These COVID capacity restrictions and “Sit Here” decals, which have been in place over the past year, remain in case the public health situation requires some social distancing. Faculty, staff, and students do not need to follow these COVID room capacity limits or “Sit Here” decals right now.

Hand sanitizer dispensers will be located outside the elevators on each floor and in all “high touch” areas, including inside suite/unit doors.

UIC Facilities Management staff have heightened cleaning protocols for washrooms and common areas. Employees are responsible for cleaning and sanitizing their own work stations and should not share workspaces. As essential workers, the custodial staff members have been in the buildings since March 2020 when the buildings closed and have been cleaning daily.

Revised guidelines for visitors who come to campus for meetings, internships, research collaboration, contracted employees who perform work on the campus, and revised guidelines for university-sponsored events held both on campus and off are available here.

Who should test:

COVID-19 saliva testing is required for all individuals, except for those who are fully vaccinated who have disclosed their vaccination status through UIC Healthcheck, twice per week beginning Aug. 23.

This includes:

• all partially vaccinated students, faculty and staff who have a scheduled final vaccine dose and vaccination completion is imminent.
