UPP Professor John Betancur Receives Lifetime Achievement Award as Latinx History Maker by IL Latino Judges Association
Department of Urban Planning and Policy Professor John Betancur was recently received a lifetime achievement award by the Illinois Latino Judges Association. John was honored as a Latinx history maker for his lifetime work as a scholar and activist. John also recently received the Silver Circle Award for teaching excellence by UIC's senior undergraduates. John's recent work focuses on planning strategies in Medellin, Columbia in "Urban Assemblages and Disassemblages: Medellin's Hegemonic and Counter-Hegemonic Forums" and has been interviewed for his work understanding gentrification in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood.
