UIC CUPPA Specialties Rank Top 10 Nationally
The College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (CUPPA) at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) hosts three top ten specialty programs, among the nation’s best, and three others in the top 35 according to the 2023-24 rankings released by News & World Report on April 25.
Programs highlighted by U.S. News include urban policy (6th), local government management (tied for 10th), public finance (tied for 10th), nonprofit management (tied for 20th), public policy analysis (tied for 32nd) and leadership (tied for 35th). CUPPA overall tied for the 36th ranking in the country out of 269 public affairs schools.
“Since I arrived in July, I’ve been continuously impressed by the caliber of CUPPA faculty and students in Chicago’s only public research university. I’m not surprised that CUPPA ranks in the top 13 percent of all programs nationally,” said Stacey Swearingen White, dean.
CUPPA offers degree programs in public policy, public administration, civic analytics, urban planning and policy, city design, and urban studies. CUPPA is the University of Illinois System’s home for the study of public policy and contemporary urban challenges.
“Our work – what we teach in the classroom and the research we engage in – is so vital to communities across the globe. Our mission of building just, resilient, and livable communities is really what we do here in CUPPA and it shows in our reputation,” Swearingen White said.
