GFRC Graduate Research Assistant 50%
The Government Finance Research Center (GFRC) is seeking a Graduate Research Assistant for Fall Semester 2020 to work with the Associate Director and Affiliated Faculty on research projects and other duties as assigned. Anticipated start date is August 24, 2020.
The GFRC’s mission is to shape and inform public policy and scholarly discourse on government and public finance by identifying, planning and executing research, providing periodic reports and informed analyses, and offering venues at which to convene national and local discussion on fiscal and governmental issues.
The Research Assistant will report to the GFRC Associate Director. Assigned duties will be specific to current projects, which include exploring state fiscal policy possibilities in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Qualifications
- Must have experience with excel. Experience with other data management and analysis software (e.g. STATA, R) a plus.
- Familiarity with public administration and public finance academic journals and literature, and be able to write concise literature reviews.
- Must demonstrate professional writing and editing skills, be able to prioritize assignments appropriately, and be self-directed.
- Must be an organized, creative, critical thinker, in addition to being enrolled as grad student. Preference is given to graduate students in CUPPA that have a background or course work in public budgeting, finance or taxation.
