Crain’s Chicago Business article (subscription required) on Chicago transit disparities cites findings from a Equiticity/Metropolitan Planning Council report produced by Kate Lowe, UIC associate professor of urban planning and policy, UIC graduate student Chelsie Coren, in who detail the first-hand experiences of many disadvantaged workers and job seekers in Chicago who face serious transportation challenges, especially in communities of color. The article also includes commentary on the report by MPC Executive Director, Audrey Wennink, UIC MUPP Alum. Also included in the article are comments from Nebiyou Tilahun, UIC associate professor urban planning and policy, who describes how users can determine accessibility via an interactive job and transportation map he created.
