David Merriman Appointed To The Cook County Revenue Forecasting Commission
David Merriman, James J. Stukel Presidential Professor of Public Administration, has been appointed to the Cook County Revenue Forecasting Commission by Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle.
This recently established independent Commission is composed of three members serving three-year terms. Commission members are tasked with analyzing the five-year revenue forecast, developed annually by the Chief Financial Officer, and providing quarterly updates to the President and Board of Commissioners. The forecast will take into account various County revenue sources, including Sales and Use taxes, Property Taxes, Cigarette Taxes, and Fuel Taxes, among others.
With his extensive experience assisting public officials in the development of fairer and more efficient mechanisms to raise revenue, Professor Merriman is a well-established expert in tax-related and other public policy issues.
