CUPPA Participates in Tour to Address Railroad Infrastructure
Two CUPPA research professors and a master’s candidate participated in a tour April 10 of freight rail yards in south suburban Dolton to learn about proposed infrastructure upgrades that would improve safety and reduce wait times due to freight trains. UTC Director Dr. P.S. Sriraj, Professor Kazuya Kawamura and student Krupa Gaggar joined representatives from the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Cook County Department of Strategic Planning and Policy, the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association and the Village of Riverdale on the tour, which was led by Dolton Mayor Riley H. Rogers. The UTC is working on a study to improve freight rail transportation in Cook County.
