CUED’s Beth Gutelius Quoted In New York Times On The Impact Of Automation
The New York Times quotes Beth Gutelius, associate director of UIC’s Center for Urban Economic Development and senior researcher at the Great Cities Institute at UIC, in a story on about the impact of automation on work and a new robot being used for human tasks at a German warehouse. Gutelius says the warehouse job market is unlikely to change soon due to the new technology, but the bigger issue will be how humans are judged as they work alongside robots. “As we start to compare the speed and efficiency of humans to robots, there is a whole new set of health and safety issues that emerge,” she said. https://nyti.ms/36VIROk (subscription required)
