A Special CUPPA Gift Announcement: Thank you to the Family of Anna Bachman

Anna Bachman
Thank you to the Family of Anna Bachman, who generously increased their giving to CUPPA to ensure that the scholarship fund as well as a tremendously invaluable internship fund, continue to impact our students for at least the next six years. The funds are named in honor of Anna Bachman, MUPP, who passed away in 2014. By ensuring the ongoing availability of Anna’s scholarship funds, her family hopes that more students can carry on Anna’s legacy, pairing meaningful education in CUPPA with tangible work experience in the field of housing policy.
Soon after MUPP Anna Bachman passed away unexpectedly during winter break in 2014, her family sought to learn more about Anna’s passion: creating housing for all. The complexities of housing policy pushed her family to initiate the Anna Bachman Memorial Scholarship, provided annually to CUPPA students pursuing internships and research that seek to make Anna’s vision a reality.
“[Housing policy] is so much more complicated than I first thought,” said Marsha Kopral, Anna’s mother. “We're really happy that there are people who have the education and who understand the complexity of it that are carrying on with some of the work.”
In late 2019, Bachman’s family generously increased their giving to the CUPPA to ensure that the scholarship fund, as well as a tremendously invaluable internship fund, continue to impact our students for at least the next six years.
Bachman’s family saw Anna’s success in 2013 interning at the Federal Home Loan Bank. The Bank, which helps to provide funds to support affordable housing construction, is a clear example of how well-paid internships can make a student’s experience that much more impactful.
By ensuring the ongoing availability of Anna’s scholarship funds, her family hopes that more students can carry on Anna’s legacy, pairing meaningful education in CUPPA with tangible work experience in the field of housing policy.
“We're not just givingmoney for giving money's sake,” said Andy Kopral, Anna’s stepfather. “We want to hopefully know that the memories we have about Anna have some effect on housing policy.”
