UIC's Department of Urban Planning and Policy invites you to our Housing Justice Panel, honoring the legacy of Dr. Janet Smith. This event is free and will feature a provocative conversation around the critical topic, “Where are the most vulnerable to live?” Housing justice has been a core part of the department’s identity and community engagement, as exemplified by Janet’s tremendous contributions to affordable, public, and accessible housing in Chicago and beyond.
We hope with this event to honor Janet’s contributions, engage key leaders in substantive conversations around affordable housing, and further support momentum for housing justice in Chicagoland.
This event features comments from Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez and Sue Loellbach. Panelists include Joy Hammel, Tania Kadakia, Cheryl Johnson, Katanya Raby, and Doug Schenkleberg. Angela Hurlock will moderate the panel.
