UIC Tolerance Means Dialogue Scholarship
March 16, 2023
12:30 PM - 2:00 PM
The Tolerance Means Dialogues engage people of different perspectives to find solutions to problems at the intersection of faith, sexuality, and families. You can read more about the project here: www.tolerancemeans.com. This year's question is "What can we learn about bridging divides in America today?"
With this Dialogue, undergraduate and graduate students from UIC can compete for two $750 Tolerance Scholarships by submitting a 500-word essay on what tolerance means to them. The essay is due on Monday, March 13th, 2023, by noon.
The winning essayists take center stage at the Dialogue and present alongside the experts who act as catalysts for the Dialogue. The event is being hosted by the University of Illinois Chicago and will feature Dialogue Catalysts Shannon Minter, Director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, and Robin Fretwell Wilson, Mildred Van Voorhis Jones Chair in Law at the University of Illinois College of Law. Vice Chancellor Javier Reyes will give opening remarks and the Dialogue will be moderated by Alexandra Filindra, Associate Professor of Political Science and Psychology at the University of Illinois Chicago.
Please RSVP to attend at www.tolerancemeans.com/rsvp
All students who attend the Dialogue can join in the discussion by tweeting questions and comments to @ToleranceMeans. One student that is present at the Dialogue and tweets a question or comment will be randomly selected to receive a Social Engagement Prize of $250 for adding to the Dialogue.
