Institute for Policy and Civic Engagement Hosts
Community Campus Dialogue,
LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!
Your action is needed.
Join us and our community partners, Lawndale Christian Legal Clinic, Equiticity, and Center on Halsted, in an engagement session to provide your perspectives and thoughts on how and when officers should conduct stops, protective pat downs, and searches of people in Chicago.
The City of Chicago has agreed with the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) of Illinois to take steps to ensure that Chicago Police Department (CPD) policies and practices comply with the Fourth Amendment, which protects against unreasonable searches and seizures, and the Illinois Civil Rights Act, which requires that government policies do not have a racially disparate impact.
Your action is needed to develop a set of recommendations regarding the CPD’s stop and protective pat down practices.
Please rsvp by Tuesday, Feb. 14: https://go.uic.edu/2engage. Refreshments will be provided.
