On behalf of the faculty, students, and Department of Urban Planning and Public Policy (UPP) staff, we’re excited to invite you to our 50th Anniversary.

We’re gathering at Lacuna Lofts in Pilsen for lively networking, great music, delicious bites, and a drink (or two) to toast five decades of UPP’s impact on Chicago and beyond. The CUPPA Alumni Association will honor two dynamic individuals with their prestigious Jim Marek Alumni Association Appreciation Award and the Inaugural Emerging Leader Award, presented in memory of Anna Bachman.

For now, mark your calendars, grab your dancing shoes, and get ready to party like a planner.

Regular Admission: $100 | Student Tickets: $50

About the Chicago Futures Initiative

This year, we hope you will join us in raising money for the future of Chicago and UPP! For 50 years, UPP at UIC has educated a diverse student body to face complex urban issues across spatial scales. Our alumni and future students will confront myriad urban challenges, from climate change and environmental justice to persistent inequities in housing and transportation. All underscore the importance of problem-oriented, interdisciplinary approaches for making better plans and policies.

In celebration of our first 50 years – and in anticipation of the years to come – we’re building The Chicago Futures Initiative, a programmatic and physical space for furthering our commitment to cutting-edge and community-engaged learning and research. Your sponsorship and ticket purchases directly invest in leadership, technology, and student success.
