About
Stephen Kleinschmit, Ph.D. is Director of the Master of Science and Civic Analytics program and Clinical Association Professor in the UIC Department of Public Administration. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from North Carolina State University, as well as an M.S. in Technology Systems and a dual B.S. in Urban Planning and Geography from East Carolina University. His practitioner experience includes employment as an urban planner, GIS analyst and development planning consultant. He is also a veteran, having spent six years as field artillery crewmember.
Dr. Kleinschmit is best known to many in the field of public administration as the founder and president of the Midwest Public Affairs Conference (MPAC). He serves on the American Society for Public Administration's National Council as District IV representative, is a member of the editorial review board of Public Integrity, and is co-founder of the Journal of Public and Nonprofit Affairs. He is a member of the ASPA Greater Chicago Chapter, has served both on the boards of ASPA’s Indiana and Michigan Capital Area chapters, and is a member of the Sections on Public Administration Education and Science and Technology in Government.
