Today’s edition of NPR Illinois’ “The 21st” show featured an interview with Amanda Kass, associate director of the Government Finance Research Center at UIC, and David Merriman, James J. Stukel Presidential Professor in the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs and with the University of Illinois’ Institute of Government and Public Affairs. Kass and Merriman discussed their Feb. report on the State of Illinois’ finances that suggests policymakers take a different approach to resolving pension issues and avoid a “crisis” mentality.
