Chicago Native American Woman

The Chicago Tribune published a commentary from three UIC researchers involved with the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy’s report on the challenges and contributions of Native Americans in Chicago. William Scarborough, research assistant at the institute; Amanda Lewis, director of the institute and UIC professor of African American studies and sociology; and Angela Walden, research assistant professor for the Center for Dissemination and Implementation Science and clinical assistant professor in the Institute for Juvenile Research at UIC; write that “Native Americans in Chicagoland have largely been left out of current local conversations about addressing racial equity” and that more work needs to be done to address the various issues facing Chicago’s Native American community today.
