Food access remains a critical challenge for unhoused individuals in Illinois, shaped by systemic barriers and complex social dynamics. The Institute for Research on Race & Public Policy (IRRPP), in conjunction with the Illinois Office to Prevent and End Homelessness (OPEH) has published a new report Hunger Pains: Food Access for Unhoused Individuals in Illinois that interrogates the unique barriers to food access and food dignity that unhoused Illinoisans face.
