Green Economy in the Transportation and Logistics Sector of Northeast Illinois.
The Nathalie P. Voorhees Center for Neighborhood and Community Improvement, an EDA University Center designated by the US Economic Development Administration, announces the completion of the transportation and logistics report, the Green Economy in the Transportation and Logistics Sector of Northeast Illinois.
The report analyzes three aspects of the green economy in transportation and logistics in Northeast Illinois: electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, the spatial organization of the warehousing and logistics industry, and the move towards transit electrification. Each section of this report discusses the green economy transformations in each of these areas and identifies opportunities that advance the sectors’ green goals as well as workforce development and participation in the sector.
The Transportation & Logistics study is a part of the larger EDA University Center funded Green Economic development research series led by UIC Voorhees Center Director Yittayih Zelalem (PI).
The research team who worked on the report also includes Nebiyou Tilahun (Project Lead, Associate Professor of Urban Planning and Policy), Nooshin Javidi (Research Assistant), Suban Aden (Research Assistant), and Ian Canovi (Research Assistant).
