SUMMARY:Gentrification In Latin America, an Update
DESCRIPTION: The last decade has witnessed a surge in studies of gentrification in Latin America that both validate Foucault?s insight that truths are local and call for composite and fluid explanations of urban processes. Building on ?Gentrification in Latin America: Overview and Critical Analysis? (Betancur 2014), this presentation argues for critical, bottom-up approaches grounded in political economy that incorporate contingency and contextuality into the analysis of urban restructuring.     \n         with John Betancur, Professor of Urban Planning and Policy,     and commentator, Andrés Urcuqui-Bustamante, Assistant Professor of Urban Planning and Policy. | Event post: https://cuppa.uic.edu/events?page_id=23704
