SUMMARY:GFRC Workshop Investing in the Future: Trends in Public Sector Capital Investment
DESCRIPTION:    The Government Finance Research Center (GFRC) is pleased to host a special workshop featuring Dr. Dennis De Widt, associate professor at Cardiff University (UK), who is visiting GFRC as part of the institutional partnership between the University of Illinois System and Cardiff University.    During his stay, Dr. De Widt is collaborating closely with GFRC director, Dr. Deborah A. Carroll, to advance joint research on local government finance. This workshop will focus on trends in public sector capital investment, beginning with a short presentation by Dr. De Widt on his work examining capital investment in the British healthcare system. He and Dr. Carroll will then share early insights from their ongoing project on US municipal capital investment, drawing on both qualitative interviews and quantitative analysis.
