Featured speakers include David Merriman, Professor of Public Policy at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and John T. Dabrowski, Bloomingdale Township Assessor. This informative, nonpartisan panel will address property tax affordability, equity, and reform. Together, they’ll explore why property taxes have risen, how they’re calculated, and which real estate tax system reforms have merit. The event will cover:
- Causes of rising property taxes
- Assessment practices and current exemptions
- Practical tools for taxpayers
- Ideas for long-term reform and fairness
