No Choice But to Drive

November 16, 2017

11:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Location

4th Floor Conference Room, CUPPAH

Address

412 S. Peoria Street, Chicago, IL 60607

Research exploring the gaps that exist in the country's intercity rail and express bus system will be the focus of “No Choice But to Drive: Identifying the Most Significant Gaps in the Intercity Bus and Rail System in the United States,” the final installment in the Fall 2017 Seminar Series hosted by the Urban Transportation Center.

Professor Joe Schwieterman of the Chaddick Institute at De Paul University will offer perspectives on how, despite recent expansion to rail and bus service, many prominent routes remain without effective ground travel options, fostering dependence on driving or flying.  He also will share an interactive tool that showcases some of the most notable gaps in the U.S. system, including several involving Chicago.

The event will be held Thurs., Nov. 16, 11:30 a.m. in the Fourth Floor Conference Room. All are invited.
