Dance and Urban Form

Everyone is invited to the Society of Black Urban Planners Dance and Urban form event. Take a break from studying and put on your dancing shoes! At the event, we will explore the concepts of Kevin Lynch. Kevin Lynch was a Urban planner and author. His influential book The Image of the City coined the concept of mental mapping and wayfinding. Through his academic career and processes, he identified five elements that formed mental mapping: paths, edges, districts, nodes and landmarks. These concept can be identified on a human scale and create a fascinating pedestrian experience that is transformative through the bodies landscape.
The class will go as followed:
1) Brief discussion/ map making
2) stretching
3) mental mapping exploration
4) cool down/ mindful experience
5) final discussion!
