In Memoriam
Remembering Jim Spiotto, CUPPA Dean's Council Member
Dear CUPPA Friends,
I am saddened to report the passing of Jim Spiotto, who died suddenly on February 27, 2020, only a short time after attending a Chicago Municipal Analysts Society luncheon.
Jim was a giant in the field of municipal law, bankruptcy and finance, and a dedicated and committed lawyer. Jim’s impact on the profession, or rather on many professions, was monumental. More important, Jim was a wonderful man with a wry sense of humor and a capacity to listen and engage in conversations about a host of topics. And a kinder man I do not know.
He was quick to agree to be a member of the UIC College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (CUPPA) Board of Visitors (CUPPA’s external advisory council now called the Dean’s Council) and was always vocally supportive of the College. His voice will be missed.
While we know Jim will be with us in spirit is comforting, his loss - a devastating loss - most certainly will be felt.
Sincerely,
Mike
