About the Dean
Message from Dean Pagano
I'm delighted that you're here and taking a brief look at what we do in CUPPA.
You're going to see the many ways in which we are contributing to the quality of life in metropolitan Chicago and other urban areas around the world as well as enhancing the performance of government and non-profit agencies. Whether it's through one of our nationally recognized academic programs in public administration or urban planning and policy, or in one of our premier research centers, you'll see that CUPPA is a recognized leader in education, research, and engagement. We are a diverse group and are recognized for our individual strengths as well as the collective synergies we gain from joining together in one college at UIC. Our distinctive contribution to the university and to our community is based upon the connections we have designed and built over many of engaged research and on the interconnectedness we embrace and fully take advantage of to improve and advance the work we do in CUPPA.
In fact, these halls of our CUPPA building are 103 years old. This site was once the home of the Form Fit Undergarment Factory. In more recent years, under the auspices of the University of Illinois at Chicago, the building housed the Office of Admissions and Records, Alumni Affairs, and even a faculty lounge and restaurant. Now, however, the entire scope of CUPPA has taken over the entire building!
Even in one physical space, we employ a variety of communication strategies ranging from our semester newsletters to weekly internal college email updates. When you join the CUPPA family, you will receive weekly emails of the "Top Ten Things You Should Know This Week in CUPPA." Our newly redesigned website also features media appearances, special events around the college, our CUPPA Careers blog, and more. We are continuing work on all of our websites to be a resource for the information you need, when you need it.
This college is part of an extraordinarily dynamic, comprehensive public research university located in the heart of one of the nation's largest metropolitan areas. CUPPA has a rich culture and history as well as a commitment to innovation. When you visit in person or follow us in the news or via social media, you will notice that those of us in CUPPA consistently think of how we can make our communities better places. Whether it's in our research or advising or teaching or giving a tour or answering a phone, CUPPA has assembled the best team of faculty and staff on campus, if not in the world. I'm proud to be a part of it and I'm proud of the work we do.
Thank you for visiting.
Michael A. Pagano, Ph.D.
